Pharmacists Manitoba Award 2017
Gail Halko Honoured with the Friend of Pharmacy Award
“Pharmacists are Medicine Experts. My Passion is to help people access them”.
Gail Halko was honoured by Pharmacists Manitoba in 2017 recognizing her commitment and dedication to the profession of pharmacy throughout her career.
Nominated by Manitoba Pharmacists, here is some of what they had to say: “Gail supports the pharmacists’ critical role in patient care. She believes that all people, regardless of geography or language barriers, should have access to high quality pharmacist care, and has created systems in which the pharmacist -patient relationship can exist across these divides.
Gail identified a critical gap in patient care for First Nation patients who are often the most vulnerable in society. She recognized that as NIHB clients move back and forth between provincial health programming and federal health programming, there is an increased risk of treatment plan failure if communication is lost. Gail realized that pharmacists play a crucial role in these program transitions and worked (and is still working) tirelessly to advocate the importance of the pharmacist role in this transition process”.
